Camp Casey Attacked by Cowardly Fanatic

A Bush Loyalist attacked the Cindy Sheehan camp, running over the memorial to the fallen in his truck (dragging a chain), knocking down and destroying 500 crosses.

I don't care what your opinion is on Cindy Sheehan; I don't care what your opinion is on this Administration/regime; I don't care what your feelings are on this war/occupation.

You Do Not Desecrate a Memorial to the Fallen.

This coward deserves to be flogged.

Even better, he deserves to look the family of each of those fallen soldiers in the eye to tell them why he destroyed a memorial to their loved one.

WWFD? (What would Fox do?)

The Huffington Post speculates on what Fox News would have said about Rosa Parks in light of their ongoing desperate smear campaign against Cindy Sheehan and her peaceful protest.

Hey Bill "Falafel" O'Reilly, we're on Day 10 of Cindy's visit to the "Ranchette": it's now called "Camp Casey", Cindy Sheehan is being compared to Rosa Parks, and more people are joining ranks with her. Why don't you take that energy you're wasting on the smear campaign and use it to prevent more people from losing their children in this occupation? Or will you not care until your kids get drafted?

Cindy Sheehan compared to Rosa Parks, shots fired in vicinity

Lone Star Iconoclast reports how a nearby resident fired his gun in the vicinity of Cindy Sheehan and the other peaceful protesters.

Interviewed afterward, protest leader Cindy Sheehan said it was okay if the man fired his gun on his own property, so long as the bullets remained on his property as well.

Yahoo! News coverage of the incident.

Says the man: ""I ain't threatening nobody, and I ain't pointing a gun at nobody . . . This is Texas."

And Texans wonder why they are often portrayed as a bunch of gun-toting crazies. This really doesn't help the national opinion. Whatever happened to Southern hospitality?

And now, Cindy Sheehan is being compared to Rosa Parks.

Sorry, Bush & Co.; when the nation is recognizing a modern-day Rosa Parks, you've lost. Quit running from a grieving mother and show the courage you like to preach about and own up to the consequences of your actions. You're not scared of the terrorists who, working for Osama Bin Laden (in case you forgot) hijacked planes and destroyed the World Trade Center; why are you scared of a woman speaking from her heart?

Update (22:58):

VTexan shares his experience where his daughter was jeered for her tears of sympathy by unfeeling pro-war protestors at the ranch. "Class act" indeed. If that's the best (or worst) you can come up with, you chickenhawks had better rethink your strategy. Abuse and ridicule will only continue to earn the loathing of the American people and the world.

Gold Star Mom and Veterans must walk in the Ditch??

Greetings from Dallas, TX! I am currently at the Veterans for Peace 2005 Convention, and what a time I have having!

I had the distinct honor of seeing off Cindy Sheehan, Gold Star Mother, as she headed off to Crawford to ask George Bush why her son is dead. She is going back tomorrow, and will stay there until she gets an answer, and the truth.

Over two dozen Veterans for Peace escorted her there today, and were forced to walk in the ditch by the side of the road by the security guards there. Yes, this is how we "support our troops" and "honor the sacrifice" of Gold Star Mothers.

But even better: when the Veterans tried to bring her water, they were turned away at the barricades (three layers that were hastily erected by the security guards, who didn't want to be kept overtime but cared nothing about whether a Gold Star Mother expired on the President's lawn).

Let me point you to two ignorami:

Confederate Yankee refuses to accept that real, live veterans escorted Cindy Sheehan as he smears her as a "walking cliche of Democratic Underground-type talking points". So they're only good Americans when they sit down and shut up and let their families and lives be taken away from them? Sounds like a pretty nice empire there, complete with peons.

Bright and Early has decided to dictate that Gold Star Mothers are to be seen and not heard, that they should piously and quietly mourn and not fight . . . which is, of course, exactly what the Chickenhawks did after September 11, 2001. Practice what you preach, Nimrod; let's see how you feel after one of your loved ones die being sent to the slaughter in an unnecessary and bloody occupation . . . or even better, why don't you sign up and tell your Mom to be sure to mourn quietly?
